Word games/puzzles for brain exercises? I'm trying to put together a good puzzle packet for us girls at work to do during downtime and have a license plate puzzle and a vocal word puzzle. How best to search a long list in Actionscipt? Firstly a little introduction; I am using Flash to make a 'word search' type game similar to word mole on the Blackberry. I have already found a list of all of the words I want, currently in the form of a text file with each word on a new line. My list of words is in alphabetical order and fully capitalised (case doesn't matter). Now, the user will select some characters to create a word and I require the program to search the list and try to find the entered word, the user's entry must match an entire line (or field if put into a database). The only way I can find to do this with a .txt file is to label each and every line with variable1=... variable2=... etc etc, which just isn't practical. And I imagine it will take a ridiculously amount of time to search through. Can you think of any more efficient way to do this? Could you advise a new substitute on activities/games to have on hand if students aren't provided enough work? Here's my situation. I just graduated with my MA in teaching at the end of June and I'm certified to teach secondary (grades 8-12) language arts/English. Because I wasn't able to get an actual teaching position, I'll be substitute teaching for this next school year starting next week. I'm not completely inexperienced in the classroom. When I was student teaching, I was teaching in the same classroom three days a week for the whole school year, so I'm familiar with the preparation of lesson plans. I'm just worried since, as a substitute in my district, 90% of the time I won't know what grade I'll be substituting for until that very morning, so there will be no preparation of plans. As long as the teacher leaves them work, it should be fine. I guess what I'm asking for are some general sites or something that may help for having activities on hand. For example, age/grade-appropriate word searches, crossword puzzles, etc. I'd also like any other advice or tips you have to offer. I should also mention that I'm certified to substitute for grades K-12. Baby shower games for a classy party? We're throwing my aunt a baby shower. It's her third, and a girl. I would love to play all kinds of fun games, like "bob for binkies" and "what candy bar is in the diaper" but there's going to be a lot of older people there. I don't have enough time to explain, but my family is really weird, and we have to cater to the older people. HELP: word won't save, msn games get script errors, and yahoo games say "#stayhere"? About a month ago my laptop worked fine, but i moved away from home and didn't get my laptop back until now. Now I can't save anything in word - i click the icon or "save as" in the file menu, and nothing happens. Also I can't play msn games .. they keep coming up with a script error in line 155. Finally I now can't play any yahoo games ... when i click on a lounge, nothing happens and the url at the bottom of the page says "#stayhere" at the end. I don't know what's wrong since i obviously didn't change any settings since i didn't use my laptop. I already tried searching for answers on yahoo answers and online. But nothing is working. I tried system restore, reinstalling all of the programs mentioned, updated java, doing spyware and virus scans, trying backdoors for yahoo games, unclicking "show every script error" in internet options etc. I'm at a complete loss. Please help! I have disabled my pop up blocker plus the internet explorer one. I have also tried the cntrl thing when i click on a room, but it won't let me go anywhere. It stays at the exact same page.
