What are some fun (verbal) travel games for a van full of kids?

I am a teacher at a daycare and on long field trips the kids get bored very quickly. Please tell me some direction or websites for some games. Thanks for the help!

  1. This four games are made for traveling. Hangman: To PLay: Players will take turns creating and gussing words. The non guessing player will be responsible for creating the word. To win the player that is guessing the word has to get the word before the man gets hanged. Tic-Tac-Toe: To play: One player will use the X symbol the other will use the O symbol. Players will take turns by putting their symbol in an empty space on the grid. To win the first player to fill a row with his/her symbol, either diagonally, horizontally, or vertically, wins the game Pipelines: To play: Players will take turns connecting two dots that are horizontally or vertically adjacent, and only of his/her chosen color. No lines may cross over one another. To win player to make a continuous connection from one side of the board to the other wins the game. The orange player will win if the connection is made from top to bottom. The purple player will win if the connection is made from left to right. Dots: To Plat: Players will take turns drawing one straight line, connection two dots. When a player completes a square, his/her initals are to be placed inside that square. To win the player with the most squares wins the game, if only there in no more moves.
  2. Count cows, semi trucks, train cars, or cars-by-color. Pick a category (fruit) and each child gives a different answer (pear, apple, grapes). Depending on where you are, you could have them name crops or animals that provide food (for daycare, meat could be a problem, but milk or yogurt probably not). If car-savvy, they can count by brand. We used to count semis by brand. 20 questions. Give a word and have the next person choose a word that uses the ending sound as the beginning sound of the next word (field-dairy-yield-dawn-need-do-oval) - that might be way too hard. Have them name favorite foods.
  3. 20 questions (classic) license plate game (try to find a license plate from each state) other license plate game (think of the letters on the license plates as an acronym) this is my favorite because some kids will just look for different license plates and others will try to think of funny words. This game is always fun and funny
